I love your idea of featuring heroes--what a great way to start the new year!  Personally, I would like to suggest Elizabeth Smart.  She suffered so much in the way of abuse and terror almost 7 years ago.  This year, as you know, she sat in court and testified against her captors, facing fears that had been buried for several years.  Now, she is an inspiration as she embarks on a religious mission to France for 18 months, sharing her faith with countless others.  She is an example not only to others who have suffered terrible abuse and/or captivity, but to all of us.  She’s taught that no matter the circumstances, we can always cling to hope and faith to see us through our hardships.  Elizabeth Smart is a true hero.
